We're all cosmically stupid about everything...Art is why I get up in the morning...but my definition ends there...it doesn't seem fair that I am living for something I can't even define...

I never blog any more---

But there is a lot going on in my life right now...

One week and one day until my thesis production "Spinning Into Butter" opens. I cannot believe it. It has all gone by so fast. I liked the play a lot when I started...I love it now. The actors are hard working and committed and have given a lot to their roles. I have been luck to have them. I cannot believe this is my last project in grad school, but also confident in my abilities as a director to go out and conquer my goals.

Speaking of the futire...

I have decided to apply to the Peace Corps...I am sure there will be alot more info to come in the future, but as of tight now I am getting my application together. I hope to teach children, women and girls in Western Africa empowerment, AIDS education, and other issues using theatre as an educational medium. I am very excited and nervous about this possibility. The application process is long, but I know it will be worth it.

Gee--I never post anymore--Facebook has taken over my life I guess--

Hmm...news

School is over for the summer and I am busy....relaxing...at least for a few days anyway...before school ended..lets see...directed my final scene at Baylor, and I will have to say it was the best work I've done thus far (well, I would hope so since it was my last scene before my thesis) It was the first act"ish" of a great musical called "A New Brain" by William Finn...it is an expressionistic musical and has great music...expressionism is one of my favorite "ism's" in theatre and I had a lot of fun doing it...it turned out great and I had a great, great cast....

I also finished and passed my comprehensive exams without having to rewrite anything woo hoo!! which is good because I worried myself sick and studied like mad...

I also had to have the first draft of chapter one of my thesis done by the end of the year...25 pages...yuck...the first chapter is over the playwright and background on the play...My thesis show is "Spinning Into Butter" by Rebecca Gilman and I will be directing it in the Fall....we are the first show of the year and go up in September...I can't believe I will be practically done one month into next year...after the show ends I only have two classes and to finish writing my thesis...oh, and I have to find a job...yikes...I cant believe it...but I am excited to get started. I have a great cast of very talented and hard working people...I think its a good play for Baylor...hopefully it will get some of the closed minded baptists to think about racism and perhaps some of the other things that they remain closed minded about...

I am glad that I have been here at Baylor..I have met some amazing and talented people...and have learned so much about who I am as a person and as a director...I am feeling more ready to enter the theatre world and make something of myself...its funny that being here at Baylor which is such a closed-minded and conservative atmosphere has made me stronger in my beliefs, and I wouldn't trade that for anything.

In August I am going to Detroit to visit my best friend Kristy and Nathan and her new baby Ainslee. I am more than excited. I miss the good times we used to share and its been hard to be away from the only person I think really gets me. It will be a nice trip.

Well, thats about it....going to work this summer and teach a theatre class for 4-5th and 9-12th graders, write on my thesis and maybe finally lose the weight I've gained over the last couple years....Most of all, I am going to relax and have fun

:)
